Meet Herringbone No 1, a sativa-dominant cross originally produced by breeder Ken Estes, the man best known for creating Grandaddy Purple. Herringbone No 1 contains little-to-no CBD, making it ideal for those who find the effects of THC to be helpful. It also boasts dense, chunky buds that are highlighted with a purple hue. This strain is just one of two available phenotypes under the Herringbone moniker, both of which are available right here on Tweed Main Street.

But what exactly is a phenotype? The term refers to a plant's expression of observable characteristics, or qualities, such as height, bud structure and aroma. These traits can differ from plant to plant when growing from seed.

In simpler terms, we grew a whole bunch of Herringbone seeds and were left with many unique variations of the same strain. This is because each plant has dominant genes that interact with their environment and produce observable differences - kind of like how one sibling can look much different than another despite having the same parents.

Anyway, from the great number of Herringbone phenotypes we grew, we narrowed it down to our two favourites. Which one is yours?
